*** THE QUESTIONS NOBODY IS ASKING ***
Not a single media outlet is asking the right questions to New Zealand’s Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. It is possible they didn’t think about it, so here are six questions for her. We don’t suppose she is gonna reply directly to us, but maybe, just maybe, a single journalist with some common sense and pride for his/her profession is going to pick these up:
1- The Christchurch shooter was granted a license by NZ Police. The vetting procedure in NZ is extremely rigorous, how could he pass it? Was the licensing procedure followed?
2- There is a man, a gun owner named Pete Breidahl, who claims he met the shooter way before the Cristchurch attack and that he warned the police about the fact that the gunman was “not right in the head”. Were any steps taken by the NZ Police in relation to this tip?
3- The “gun ban” law was drafted and published in just 6 days, but there were similar attempts years before and similar actions taken worldwide by members of the “Progressive Alliance”, even in countries (like NZ) with gun crime figures close to zero. Many people think this law was ready in some drawer, just waiting for the right moment to push it forward: how do you respond to this allegations?
4- The gunman clearly wrote that he was hoping for a knee jerk reaction and a gun ban both in NZ and US, to increase social and political divisions. Why did you give him exactly what he wanted?
5- Looking at recent events worldwide but particularly in the EU, terrorists had no problems securing illegal firearms or using other easily available means to kill hundreds of people, who, by the way, were unarmed and unable to protect themselves (London bridge and Nice attack, for example). Are you convinced a gun ban is an effective way to stop terrorist attacks?
6- Did your government make some kind of impact assessment to evaluate what consequences will the gun ban have on the lives of people owning or working in companies related to the shooting hobby? (ranges, gun shops, etc.). Are You aware that previous gun bans elsewhere generated waves of suicides of people that were put out of business in a matter of days by laws like these? How do you plan to address the consequences?
